Designed by local election departments, for local election departments

The nonpartisan standards are designed to support local election departments to improve election operations and build trust with the public. They define a new standard of performance for election departments nationwide. The standards are designed by local election officials, designers, technologists and other experts for local election departments.

The draft standards were developed with feedback from nearly 50 election departments that serve 30.5 million voters. The departments range in size from jurisdictions serving 988 voters to as many as 4.7 million voters.

If you are a local election official, an election expert, or a member of an organization that supports voters, let us know what you think! Your feedback will shape the final standards and help us define excellence for the future of U.S. election administration.

We are collecting feedback on the draft communications standards. Whether you handle everyday interactions that answer voters’ questions or special media requests, we want to hear from you!
